About DAVAO CITY
Davao City is 750 miles south of Metro Manila, about 1 hour and 45 minutes by plane, and 2 days by boat. Davao is situated at the southern portion of the Philippine archipelago and protected from typhoon all year round.
Davao City is 3 times larger than Metro Manila and 7 times larger than Cebu. With over 240,000 hectares of land area, Davao City is the second largest city in the world in terms of land area.
Major dialect spoken in Davao are tagalog, bisaya and mixture of both which the local call "tag-bis". English is also used by the locals as a second language.
Getting to Davao City
There are daily flights to Davao from Metro Manila and Cebu from the major carriers of the country namely Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific Air, and Zest Air. Visit the carriers' websites for flight details and their promo flights to Davao City.
Davao City can also be reached by boat and by bus, the trip usually takes 2 days by boat and 3 days by bus.
Things to do in Davao City
1. Camp Sabros Zip adventure tour - Camp Sabros is located at the highlands of Digos, Davao del Sur at an elevation of 1800 to 2600 above sea level, with a terrific view of the majestic Mt. Apo, travel time is about 1 hr and 30 minutes from Davao City. They offer 3 ziplines, a 400m, an 700m, and an almost 1km zipline.
2. Davao River rafting - a 13km river rafting adventure at the Davao river with 25 rapids. A must try for outdoor enthusiasts.
3. Zip City and Outland Adventure - Both sites offer ziplines, a 280m for Zipcity and an 800m for Outland Adventure. Because both sites are just located within the city, sometimes it is included as part of the city tour.
4. Philippine Eagle Center(PEC) - the first of its kind, and the only one of its kind in the world. The center is world renowned because of its success in the captive breeding of the endangered Monkey eating Eagle or better know as the Philippine Eagle. The center is dedicated to save the largest raptor in the world from extinction. The center is also a famous destination of Europeans when they come to Davao, It was also featured in National Geographic and BBC lately.
